Superman in Flight

This is an odd little Superman kit that I thought would be a quickie build. That's because it was a simple two-part kit (the body and the cape), with no base. Unfortunately, it wasn't as quick and easy as I expected.

The first problem was with the kit itself. Instead of being easy to build and paint, it was a pain in the butt. This was one poorly cast kit, with lots of rough spots, pinholes, cast lines, you name it. It took a lot of sanding and puttying and whatnot to get it in shape.

The second problem was in how to display it. Frankly, I've had this kit for awhile, just sitting in the cabinet, trying to decide what to do with it. Should I build some sort of diorama for it? Maybe hang it from the ceiling? My problem was solved when I found a FlexiDisplay stand for model aircraft at my local Hobby Lobby store. The three adjustable poles fit just right to display Supes in the proper flying position, providing a unique look for this particular model.

One last thing about the kit. I have no idea who made it or where it came from. I saw it on eBay one day and picked it up for a song. I've only seen two other build-ups of this kit, one by Chopper from the Clubhouse modeling community (displayed here), and one that I stumbled across on the web (displayed here). If anyone has any information at all about this kit, feel free to email me.
