We were in San Diego from July 6th through the 10th. We stayed at the luxurious Hotel Del Coronado, on the island of Coronado. The beach was great, the town of Coronado had some terrific restaurants, and the hotel had a really good swimming pool.  There was a Navy air base at the end of the island, so there were all sorts of planes and helicopters flying by all the time, but that was okay. The beach was really smooth and shallow and fun to play in.
